Gone are the days of wearing burnout and never taking time off as a badge of honor. 🙅‍♀️

As Millennials, many of us grew up watching our parents make sacrifices to become “model employees” — you know, the ones who’d proudly say, “I haven’t taken a sick day in 15 years,” or “I work every Saturday… and sometimes Sunday if they’ll let me!” (I’m looking at you, Dad! 🤦‍♀️)

But Millennials and Gen Z are realizing that sacrificing our mental (and physical) health for job loyalty doesn’t serve us. Taking care of ourselves is more than okay — it’s necessary. And honestly, your job usually doesn’t return the loyalty you put in, so why overextend yourself?

If you’re feeling burned out, remember: it’s okay to pause and take care of yourself. In a society that often pushes for constant productivity, prioritizing your well-being will keep you strong for the long haul.

Here are a few tips to manage burnout early in your career:

❌ Set Boundaries - I know, this one is scary! Decide on a "work cut-off" time each day and stick to it. Protect your personal time like any other commitment. More than likely, it can wait for tomorrow.

📅 Take Time Off - Rest isn’t earned; it’s essential! Even a day or long weekend (yes, even if you’re staying home!) can make you more productive in the long run.

🌿 Focus on Growth, Not Just Goals - Achievements matter, but personal growth is just as important. Celebrate the small wins because progress > perfection.

Learning these skills early can save you years of stress and even potential health issues down the road. Seriously — do you know what stress does to your heart? 😥

Honestly, thriving and living your best life is a way cooler badge of honor imo, anyway 💅
